摘要
晚清时期，五口通商，新教教士纷至来华。其中，美国美以美会的传教士蒲鲁士在福建兴化地区以“实业传教”的策略开展其布道活动。然而，美以美会其他传教士却对蒲鲁士“实业传教”的策略表示反对，认为会导致一种世俗化倾向。那么蒲鲁士的方法是否可行？具有怎样的神学依据？实际效果如何又产生了怎样的影响？基于这些问题，本文以当时的时代历史背景为着眼点，来重新探讨和分析蒲鲁士“实业传教”的由来、特点、以及其在本色化教会发展创建中的作用，以此深化对蒲鲁士及美以美会的认识，同时丰富基督教传教史以及福建基督教区域史等方面的研究。
